RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attend daily construction meeting(s) at facility-specific construction office (and/or other designated location(s)) and provide a daily summary report to the Electric Transmission Communications Team.
Work 20 hours per week (time split between construction office and outreach in the community)
Coordinate with the project team and government affairs staff for right-of-way/facility tours with key stakeholders.
Assist in the implementation of various, already developed public outreach campaigns – safety, trail closures, etc.
At the direction/request of the team, conduct ongoing and consistent outreach with identified staff at localities, counties, emergency response agencies and other identified stakeholders regarding daily construction activities.
Supplement or provide support to project team staff on request.
document and report all interactions with stakeholders and landowners and submit weekly reports.
Assist land and construction team with landowner issues.
Be point person for the construction spread in the event of protester demonstrations.
As the on-the-ground point person, serve as primary public affairs contact for construction and land groups.
Provide real-time updates to public affairs team as issues arise.
Be available for occasional weekend/evening work and/or community events.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong, related experience and demonstrated knowledge of public affairs, community relations, local government relations, and outreach
Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public affairs, political science or similar educational and/or field experience preferred
Excellent writing and public speaking skills
Ability to manage competing priorities, synthesize ideas, plan strategically
Familiarity or experience with infrastructure construction process
Experience with conflict/dispute resolution techniques
Commitment to EHSCity and the clients values
Effective and collaborative team player
Previous experience with energy company preferable
Previous experience as local elected official or community leader preferable
